A Global Nonprofit Driving Lasting Impact

For generations, the National Geographic brand has inspired audiences through iconic stories rooted in science, discovery and the wonder of our world.

Today, the National Geographic Society builds on that legacy through a global community of Explorers and mission-driven programs, partnering with organizations that share our vision to create transformational impact on the ground.

Who We Are

A 138-year-old global nonprofit organization, mobilizing a community of National Geographic Explorers in 140 countries and areas who are leading a new age of exploration in support of our mission. These bold changemakers carry forward our legacy of innovation and action by working to preserve our ocean, safeguard vulnerable ecosystems for future generations, protect species at risk and more.

What We Do

We deliver measurable action for impact across our six focus areas — Ocean, Land, Wildlife, Planetary Health, Human Histories & Cultures and Space — driving long-term global results through structured efforts in field science, exploration, education and storytelling.

How We Partner

Using our expansive network of Explorer-led programs globally, we work with partners to identify areas of mutual interest where we can drive transformational impact on the ground while creating meaningful shared value. By aligning our science, conservation, storytelling and education capabilities with each partner’s unique priorities, we build partnerships that advance shared goals, accelerate innovative solutions, engage key audiences and stakeholders, and deliver measurable, lasting impact for people and the planet.
