Explorer Magda Bou Dagher Kharrat is a professor at the University of Beirut – Lebanon. She is a geneticist with special interests in endemic species conservation. She uses DNA barcoding and metabarcoding advanced technology to explore biological diversity and unravel the complex interactions linking species. These interactions are at the heart of the ecosystem restoration approach she implemented through the NGO Jouzour Loubnan, which she co-founded in 2008.
She has a contagious passion for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration, and can’t wait to share more about royal irises, genetics, and interesting adaptations with students. After her lesson, she’ll answer YOUR questions, which can be submitted live in the chat bar. This event is recommended for middle school groups and will be held at 10am and 2pm ET on Thursday March 3rd; please register for the event time that works best for your class! A recording of the event will be available to watch on-demand on our YouTube page if your students cannot attend live.
#ExplorerClassroom is for everyone! All events are free.
There are two ways to participate in the virtual event, as a featured class on screen or watching live on YouTube. If space is available, you may request to be a featured class during the registration process.
