Emily Toner is a soil geographer, exploring the scientific and cultural significance of soils around the world!
A bog is a wetland that accumulates peat, a deposit of dead plant material. Much of this material comes from mosses. As a wetland, bogs improve water quality, trap carbon in their soil, and provide a habitat for unique plants and animals. Bogs are a traditional part of the Irish way of life. Throughout history, people have relied on them for survival.
Students can join Emily at this live event for a special look inside Irish bogs and a chance to ask her all their questions!
#ExplorerClassroom is for everyone! All events are free.
There are two ways to participate in the virtual event, as a featured class on screen or watching live on YouTube. If space is available, you may request to be a featured class during the registration process.
